Remembering Queen Elizabeth ll - Rest In Peace

Updated: Nov 3, 2022

As you may know or have read I now live in Spain but I was born and grew up in England and so I was very sad to hear about the passing of our beloved Queen Elizabeth ll on the 8th September 2022.

I was actually teaching at the time it was announced and so I didn’t know of the news for some time. I finished my day teaching, went home, walked my 2 dogs, I made dinner and as I sat down to eat with my other half, he casually came out with “ You know the Queen is dead right?! ” and of course I thought he was joking and replied back with “ No, she’s not ”. He once again told me that she was and so I looked it up online and yes indeed he was telling the truth, the Queen had in fact died.

Now, The Queen has had a long and healthy life, so at age 96 it shouldn’t have been so much of a surprise but I still felt it was. Reading the reactions of the nation and seeing the British community on TV I could see many other people thought so too. After all, she was the only Queen most of the population has ever known in Britain.

Queen Elizabeth ll, Born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, on the 21st April 1926 became the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth - Canada, Australia, South Africa and India to name but a few- on the 6th February 1952 and reigned for 70 years. She holds the title of The Longest Reigning Monarch and she was working right up until the day she peacefully passed away at Balmoral Castle.

There have been floods of flowers, cards, messages and tributes for The Queen throughout the United Kingdom and Commonwealth and the funeral will take place on the 19th September 2022 at Westminster Abbey. Then Queen Elizabeth ll will finally be laid to rest at Windsor Castle along with her predecessors.

What happens next?

Well, her son has now become King Charles lll at age 73. All money, coins and stamps will need to change the pictures and wording from her majesty to his majesty. Passports, in time will also have to change over and of course the national anthem will change to God Save The King.

An amazing sight was seen at 3pm on the 8th September just as the announcement was made that Queen Elizabeth ll had died. A double rainbow over Buckingham Palace, which many believe symbolises Prince Andrew and Queen Elizabeth being reunited.

A similar sight was seen at Windsor Castle when they lowered the flag to communicate the Queens passing.

Queen Elizabeth ll was a great inspiration to many. She was loved by her own nation and world wide, which is very clear to see now in the days following her death. She will be remembered for her graciousness, strength, loyalty and humour and I will leave you with these lovely words to finish.

Rest In Peace your Majesty.

Phillip came to me today, and said it was time to go. I looked at him and smiled, as i whispered that "I know" I then turned and looked behind me, and seen I was asleep. All my Family were around me, and I could hear them weep. I gently touched each shoulder, with Phillip by my side. Then I turned away and walked, with My Angel guide. Phillip held my hand, as he lead the way, to a world where King's and Queens, are Monarch's every day. I was given a crown to wear or a Halo known by some. The difference is up here, they are worn by everyone. I felt a sense of peace, my reign had seen its end. 70 years I had served my Country, as the peoples friend. Thank you for the years, for all your time and love. Now I am one of two again, in our Palace up above. Author : Unknown
